Our school has developed a progressive, child-centered, spiral teaching curriculum for children of all age groups based on the “Developmental Curriculum and Activity Recommendations for Children Aged 2 to 6” written and guided by the Hong Kong Christian Service. We advocate themed learning, project-based lessons, social, cultural and emotional education. We offer rich and diversified activities, such as real-life experiences, language and daily news sharing, outdoor excursions, expert visits, spiritual and artistic exposure, and integrate all these learning aspects into our teaching processes. We aim to encourage active learning, knowledge building and skill acquisition, as well as to develop keen thinking, rich creativity and a positive attitude towards life. In addition, our school emphasizes life education on the basis of core-value building and personal learning from life events. This gives children a sense of community, and teaches them to care for society and the environment through the process of “knowing, feeling, believing and acting”.
Our school is the only school ever to receive the Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence for Achievements in Life Education. Our research on life education which validates teaching effectiveness has been awarded the 2013/2014 Education Research Award Scheme by the Hong Kong Teachers’ Center and Chinese University of Hong Kong. We have also published our research report in the Compendium of Education Research Reports for peer review. In January 2016, our school passed the EDB’s Quality Review and won its high recognition and praise.
